Music is such an evocative way to personalise your wedding ceremony and set the atmosphere for your special moment of commitment. When you imagine that moment what’s the music like ? Is it something romantic and calming or something more upbeat? Do you want an instrumental or would you like the pieces sung ?
The best way to decide what sort of musician you want for your ceremony is to first decide what pieces you want played. If you decide it’s Ave Maria then a guitarist isn’t for you, if you want something more contemporary a guitarist might work better than a string quartet so give that some consideration. As for the music that you choose for your wedding ceremony, well I always believe that it should be your wedding, your way, so what do you want? What is going to make that important moment resonate even more with both of you so that any time you hear that track for the rest of your lives you’ll be transported back to that moment.
Through the civil ceremony there are 5 natural points in which to add a piece of music:
Bridal Entrance (Processional)
After the civil codes
Exchange of rings
Signing of the register
Exit of the happy couple (Recessional)
